Treatment of nail fungus with celandine

Nail fungus is a fairly common disease, which in the initial stage does not create special problems for a person. However, in the long-term development of the pathology, waste products of the pathogenic microflora can cause serious intoxication of the body. In the treatment of the disease are used very effective means, among which stands out the celandine fungus on the toenails.

Celandine is a poisonous plant that secretes orange juice when a stem is broken. In folk medicine, the herb is used to treat many diseases and is part of various remedies. Given the fact that the plant is considered poisonous, a logical question arises: is it possible to treat nail fungus with celandine?

The herb does not have a negative effect on the body in cases where the prescribed dosage is observed in the preparation of the medicinal composition. Using celandine against nail fungus, you can quickly suppress the development of pathogenic microflora. This is due to the fact that the composition of the plant includes the following components:

  • mineral salts;
  • alkaloids that suppress the inflammatory process;
  • vitamins that restore local immunity;
  • essential oils;
  • antibiotics;
  • organic acids;
  • flavonoids.

It is fashionable to achieve the following results by treating nail fungus with celandine:

  • destruction of fungal spores;
  • soften the affected areas of the skin;
  • relieving inflammation;
  • eliminate itching and pain;
  • accelerates the healing of open wounds.

Mountain celandine is considered the most effective remedy. However, to cure nail fungus, you can use a plant collected in other areas. In the treatment of the disease it is used in the form of:

  • alcoholic tincture;
  • baths;
  • compress;
  • decoction;
  • oil.

The choice of treatment method depends mainly on the patient's preferences. In any case, you can achieve the same result.

Juice

For nail fungus you can use the juice of celandine. Before each treatment session, you should regularly perform the following steps:

  • boil your fingers in hot water;
  • remove the fungal infection of the nail plate with pumice or other means.

To prepare the juice, it is necessary to roll all parts of the plant through a meat grinder: leaves, stems, flowers. The resulting slurry should be squeezed well. Liquid celandine can be mixed with 70% alcohol in a ratio of 1: 1 (the agent is infused further during the day) or used separately.

The resulting solution is applied to the affected areas of the nail plate 1-2 times a day. The treatment with the juice of the plant lasts at least three months and ends after the complete recovery of the damaged parts of the fingers.

In the warm season it is recommended to use the juice of freshly chopped celandine. Before applying the drug on the affected nail, it should be treated with hydrogen peroxide.

The recipe for the preparation of foot fungus oil includes the following components:

  • 1 liter glass jar with lid;
  • 50 grams of freshly chopped celandine;
  • 100-150 ml of sunflower oil, preheated in a water bath or olive oil.

Nail fungus oil is made as follows:

  1. The plant is pre-washed under running water. Then it should be placed on a tray and wait until the grass is completely dry.
  2. The celandine is placed in a glass jar.
  3. The plant is compacted and topped with boiled oil.
  4. The bank is placed in a place inaccessible to sunlight. The drug is infused for one month.
  5. At the end of the allotted time you need to pass the resulting oil through cheesecloth.

If desired, the drug can be mixed with lemon juice in a ratio of 1-2 drops of the latter with two tablespoons of the former. These components soften the plate, which facilitates the removal of the affected part. The treatment of nail fungus with celandine oil ends after nail restoration.

To soften the plate, you can also use a combination of this tool with 3% vinegar. The proportions in this case are similar to those used when using lemon juice. Obtained by combining the oil of celandine and vinegar, the agent is applied to the affected areas in the form of a compress.

Infusions and decoctions

The alcoholic tincture on the basis of celandine is prepared from a freshly cut plant. The grass must be pre-washed and dried from moisture. The plant is then mixed with vodka in a ratio of 2: 1. The tincture matures for 12 days. In other recipes, a combination of 250 ml of 70% alcohol and 20 drops of celandine oil is used. The composition is infused no more than one day.

The tool is recommended to be used with extreme caution, as there are a number of contraindications. Initially, you can apply no more than 5 drops of alcohol tincture on the damaged area of the nail plate. In the future, the dose of the drug is gradually increased to 20 drops. The duration of treatment should not exceed two weeks.

To make a decoction, you will need washed and dried stems and leaves of the plant. All the ingredients are poured into a bowl and poured with boiling water so that the water completely covers the celandine. Then wrap the pan or jar with a thick towel and place in a dark place. The broth should be infused for five days, after which the product should be filtered through gauze.

To increase the effectiveness of the drug, it is recommended to mix with olive oil or vegetable oil in a ratio of 1: 1. This tool is applied 2-3 times a day, the treatment lasts about two weeks.

To make another decoction, you will also need fresh leaves and stems of celandine, pre-dried. 5 tablespoons of the plant should be mixed with 6 mills of water. Then the composition is put on the fire and boil for a few minutes. After completion of the last stage, the product is diluted with cold water and brought to room temperature. The decoction is applied to the affected areas of the nails and matures for 30 minutes. This method of treatment is supplemented with antifungal ointments.

Compresses

Therapeutic compresses derived from celandine are used mainly in the later stages of the disease, when the fungus has affected the deep structures of the nail plate. This tool softens the affected area, so the therapeutic components easily penetrate deeply.

For the compress, a product obtained by mixing iodinol and previously crushed dried celandine is used. The product thus obtained is applied in a small amount on the damaged nail plate and covered with cellophane. The compress should last more than 20 minutes. At the end of the procedure it is not recommended to wet your fingers for 3-4 hours.

After the compress, it is recommended to treat the damaged nail plate with antifungal ointment. To achieve the best effect, it is recommended to perform the procedure before bedtime.

Trays

Baths are mainly used to prevent the development of fungal infections. To prepare them, you must follow these steps:

  • prepare 5 tablespoons of dried celandine and pour it with 1, 5 liters of boiling water;
  • the composition is again placed on the stove and boiled for 5 minutes;
  • the product is diluted with cold water.

The duration of each session using therapeutic baths does not exceed 20 minutes.

Recently, a drug based on fungal alkalis is often used in the treatment of pathology. This tool is sold in many pharmacies and is used to remove various skin defects, including papillomas and calluses. The plant itself is not included in the composition of the product. The drug is used mainly as an adjunct in the treatment of fungi. It is able to stop the development of the inflammatory process and partially relieve itching.
